Thoughts From Your Treasurer: Serving as your Treasurer for the last two years has been a rare opportunity for me to gain experience and for our organization to reap the benefit of that experience. As most officers on any level can attest to, the first year is a learning experience but the second year is when you can implement new ideas and make big changes. I am very grateful that I had this second year to implement the changes I feel brought WCR to a higher level of professionalism. Some major changes were the re-organization of the credentials committee/voting process, which is now following National's lead. Another is the acceptance of credit cards and prepaid events, which now allows for a smooth entry into our meetings, no more traffic jams and confusion at the doors. Last but not least, this year we were able to raise a substantial amount of money from sponsorship allowing us to stay within our budget and end the year with a surplus. Lets not forget who our sponsors are and please try and give them your business as they so generously gave to us; American Home Shield, Natural Hazard Disclosures, Wells Fargo, Silicon Valley Silk Screening and Old Republic Title. I believe chapters can benefit by perhaps following the States lead in implementing some of these changes at the local level. I am available and just a call away if you need any help. I would like to end my letter to you with a reminder to the local chapters to please budget for ALL your officers to attend State and National WCR Meetings. Remember, WCR is not a charitable organization although we are charitable, please give first to your chapters by building future leaders. It has been a pleasure serving as your Treasurer and I look forward to continuing to be of service to our WCR State Chapter in 2002. I believe that the experience I have gained needs to be passed on and all are welcome to call me for budget, sponsorship or any other organizational assistance you may need; I am also available for Chapter visits.
