Greetings!

It is with great pleasure to be writing my first article as your WCR State Chapter President for 2002! This will be my 5th year as a State Chapter line officer, also having served as your National Governor for 2 years, and as LCP. Each and every one of these positions has been a learning and growing process and I encourage all of you to take a leadership position of some kind within our organization from LCP to committee member. They are all critical to our learning, self growth and working together as a team.

I would like to thank Carole de Losada 2001 State President for an outstanding year in continuing to lead our State Chapter into the future with excellent organizational abilities and leadership. Sincere thanks also to the 2001 leadership team Sharon Telles, Secretary for her outstanding commitment to WCR and to Mary Jane Cambria, Treasurer for her outstanding abilities as Treasurer for 2 years. A warm thank you for all of your hard work, love and dedication to making our State Chapter as strong and successful as it is. A warm appreciation to the Governors for all of their commitment to Chapter development. It was a great year.

The transition to a new year should be seamless. My goals for the year are as follows:

1) Membership Retention and Recruitment-including working with existing chapters, new chapter development and members at large

2) Leadership Development for all members with enhanced communication at all levels, including accountability

3) Strong Educational Programs that deliver value to the members as embodied in our vision and the mission statement

4) Being the Premier Real Estate Organization for individual achievement, including our serving as role models with high professional standards and integrity

My motto for the year is “2002 - The Difference is You”. Each and every one of you as members of our organization are the most critical part of the success of WCR. Serving on committees is an integral part of how you can make a difference. I would like every member to have input and be heard. Most of the committee work will be done between state meetings by conference calls and emails so every one can participate. The Committee Binder will be transferred to the new Committee Chair for a smooth transition.

“Brick by Brick: Building the Future of WCR…One Member at a Time.” This is the 2002 Membership Recruitment Campaign theme which will build upon our strong foundation. Your Local Chapter President (LCP) has more details on this creative and exciting campaign. Remember “just ask” and share our vision.

Our State Meetings will continue to be productive, informative and educational. We will have more round tables to allow the local chapter officers to share and learn information on chapter development. I also encourage all the local line officers to attend the State Meetings and invite members to attend also. Our strength is at the local level and the best way they can learn is to see the whole picture by attending State and National Meetings.

Team development is of utmost importance. As there has been much divisiveness and undercurrents in the recent past I would encourage all of us to maintain a dignified level of respect, honesty and sincerity within our organization and as individuals. We should be the role models for organized real estate. We need to get out of politics and side conversations and demonstrate our professionalism and ability to work together as a team.

The January meetings at the new Renaissance Hollywood Hotel are Jan. 21st and 22nd. We hope to have a record number of attendees and look forward to seeing you all there.
