STANDING RULES UPDATE By Mike Riley Bylaws Chair I want to thank all of the WCR members who attended the San Diego meetings for their positive input and feedback regarding the proposed changes and revisions
to the Standing Rules. The final changes and revisions to the Standing Rules will be presented to WCR membership for a vote at the Hollywood meetings in January. The four areas in the Standing Rules that generated the most controversy and input from the membership were;
1.) Eligibility requirements of our state chapter to run for a state, regional, or national WCR office. 2.) When can a member start campaigning for a state WCR office. 3.) Who is eligible to vote for a candidate for a state WCR office. 4.) When are nominations for candidates for state WCR office from the floor to be accepted and when should the cut off be for nominations from the floor. Your input regarding these four areas of possible change to the state Standing Rules would be greatly appreciated. A summary of ideas, presented by members attending the San Diego meetings addressing these four areas in the Standing Rules, is also availableto the membership.
Please e-mail me, Mike Riley, at calbears73@aol.com
if you would like a copy of the summary of ideas, if you would like to receive a copy of the Standing Rules with all the changes and revisions prior to the January meeting in Hollywood, or if you would like to provide your input and feedback regarding these four areas of the Standing Rules. All feedback and input from members regarding the Standing Rules changes needs to be received by 12/31/01, in order that the final draft of proposed Standing Rules changes and revisions can be finalized the first week of January.
The final draft of the proposed changes and revisions to the Standing Rules will be e-mailed or faxed to the state WCR leadership team, the bylaws committee members, and any WCR member that requests a copy prior to the January meetings in Hollywood.
Happy Holidays and I look forward to seeing everyone in Hollywood!
