GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Women’s Council of REALTORS 
California State Chapter    
Sheraton Grand
Sacramento, California
Monday, June 7, 2004

Call to Order at 9:10 am by State President, Mary Jane Cambria.

Pledge of Allegiance:  Dana Haycock, Antelope Valley Chapter

Inspiration:  Virginia Carranza, Delta Chapter

Introductions:  President, Mary Jane Cambria introduced the line officers:  Carol Luckenbach, President Elect; Jean Tietgen, Secretary; Bobbie Nelson, Treasurer.  Mike Riley, Parliamentarian was introduced.

Mary Jane also acknowledged all the District Vice Presidents and Governors. All Local Chapter Presidents were asked to stand and be acknowledged. First time attendees were welcomed and introduced.

Past Presidents in attendance, Linda Hofstatter, Judy Myers, Nita Lyons and Betty Taisch were introduced.

President, Mary Jane Cambria announced that the State has two newly chartered chapters. They are West Valley, Sharon Mancillas, LCP and Citrus Valley, Candis Darby, LCP.

All State Chapter sponsors were thanked for their support.

Mary Jane announced the California Chapters who won Chapter Excellence Awards presented in Washington D.C. Chapters of the Year – Mega – Santa Clara Valley Chapter; Gold Level Winners, Mega Chapters category – Santa Clara Valley and San Francisco Chapter; Large Chapters category – Delta Chapter and Solano County Chapter; Silver Level Winners, Mega Chapters – Southern Alameda County Chapter and Santa Cruz Chapter.

President, Mary Jane welcomed everyone and shared that she is very proud of the chapters she has visited across the state. The level of professionalism is soaring, but the one underlying challenge many chapters face, seems to be gossiping. She suggested to avoid personality conflicts and that we remember the golden rule. The remainder of the year our State will continue to focus on mentoring, education, professionalism, team spirit and the golden rule.

Mary Jane introduced Judy Myers who announced that Betty Taisch, Past State President and Past Regional Vice President, has declared her candidacy for National Financial Secretary. Judy asked that our members endorse her and show her support at the Regional Meeting.

Judy Myers made a motion that “The California State Chapter to endorse and fully support Betty Taisch’s candidancy for National Financial Secretary.”  Motion was approved.

Linda Yentsch, Ways & Means Vice Chair announced that raffle tickets are being sold for the Chapter Spotlight baskets.

Barbara Safran , Expo Chair announced that raffle tickets for the $1000 giveaway are being sold at this meeting for $1 each. Local Chapters may sell them for $2.00 each and make money for their chapters. They will be sold for $3 at the Expo.

Committee Meetings

Platinum Sponsor Presentation – Home by Design is offering a new line of services including postcards and calendar. Discussed the local chapter opportunity for special sponsorship from them based on how many members signed up for their services.

District Vice Presidents met with their chapters.

Mary Jane introduced our new Platinum Sponsor – a la mode, Inc., an affordable website company, presented their services to our members.

General Membership Meeting was adjourned.

GOVERNING BOARD MEETING

Call to order at 1:20 pm by President, Mary Jane Cambria.

Roll call of the Governing Board by Secretary Jean Tietgen. 48 Members of the Governing Board present. A quorum was established.

Parliamentarian, Mike Riley, presented rules of the day. Rules approved.

Mary Jane Cambria announced the appointments to the Member of Year Committee. There was a motion and a second to approve the recommendations.  The members are Diane Dee Lee., Cynthia Chaisson, Denise Ridley, Dawn O’Neal and Mary Moloney.

President Elect, Carol Luckenbach provided the membership report.  January 2004 the State had 1997 members and 31 Chapters. Currently our membership is 2121 and 35 Chapters.

Mary Jane Cambria asked for approval of the minutes from January 26, 2004 and January 27, 2004. The minutes were approved as read.

Treasurer, Bobbie Nelson gave the Treasurer’s report. As of 5/31/04, the actual income is $122,106.26. The actual expenses are $75,829.75.  The account balance in checking is $69,307.78 and savings is $22,202.64 for a total of $91,510.42.

Standing Committee Reports:

Educational Awards:  Chair, Rose Huggins no action items.

Bylaws: Chair, Linda Hofstatter brought a motion before the Governing Board.

Motion: “In order to exercise right to vote, a member must be a paid attendee at that particular meeting.”

Motion passed.

Education & Programs  – Jean Kulemin, Chair – No action items

Membership – Chair, Beth Anderson gave report that the committee is following up on all membership leads. No action items.

Strategic Planning – Chair, Betty Taisch. No action items

Ways and Means – Chair, Cathy Scharetg. No action items

Finance and Budget – Chair,  Denise Smith

Motion from the committee to increase the Officers Planning Retreat budget by $3500 to include the training of 2005 DVPs and Governors.

Motion passed.

Special Committees Reports:

Audit – Cynthia Chaisson. No action items.
Credentials – Chair, Karlene Westfall.  There are 102 National members in attendance.
Expo – Chair, Barbara Safran. No action items
Meeting Planning –  Chair, Jamie Saltman. No action items.
Sponsorship – Chair, Rana Linka.  No action items
Website – Chair, Carol Meyers. No action items
Hospitality – Chair, Hong Buccat. No action items
Member of the Year – Chair, Jeri Jorgensen. No action items

Governing Board Meeting was adjourned at 2:30 pm.

GENERAL MEMBERHIP MEETING

Call to order by President, Mary Jane Cambria at 2:30 pm.

Mary Jane reported National statistics. State Membership as of 5/31/04 was 2,121 National members. We are averaging about 50 new members per month and our percentage of retention is increasing.

Ways & Means: Chair, Cathy Scharetg and Vice Chair, Linda Yentsch introduced the Chapters who are participating in the Chapter Spotlights.

CAR President Elect Jim Hamilton made a presentation regarding the housing summit held by CAR.

Chapter Annoucements –

President of CRB, Asian Assoc of Realtors, John Wong made a presentation regarding his involvement in the cultural forum being held.
