Breakfast with guest speaker, A.J. Fischer – “Yes, You Can Make a Difference”

Call to Order at 9:30 am by State President, Mary Jane Cambria

Pledge of Allegiance: Hanna Knapp, Victor Valley Chapter

Inspiration:  Mary Maloney, Central Coast Chapter

Mary Jane Cambria introduced 2003 President and 2004 Nominating Committee Chair, Sharon Telles.

Sharon Telles passed the President’s Gavel to Mary Jane.

Sharon Telles announced that Nominating Committee is conducting interviews for candidates for National Governor 2005.

Introductions:  President, Mary Jane Cambria introduced head table. Carol Luckenbach, President Elect, Jean Tietgen, Secretary, Bobbie Nelson, Treasurer and Mike Riley, Parliamentarian.

Mary Jane also introduced District Vice Presidents and 2004 Governors. First time attendees were welcomed and acknowledged and introduced themselves.

President, Mary Jane Cambria’s President’s goals for 2004 are to re-direct, re-structure our chapter and focus on professionalism, team spirit, mentoring and chapter growth.

Sponsor Presentation – Platinum Sponsor, Home by Design announced an opportunity for chapters to make extra income when members sign up with HBD, in effect until 3/31/04.

Committee Meetings

DVP’s met with their assigned Chapters.

Meeting adjourned for lunch, honoring Sharon Telles and the 2003 Leadership Team.

The 2003 Member of the Year was announced by 2002 Member of the Year, Emily Link. The honor of Member of the Year for 2003 went to Jeri Jorgenson.


GOVERNING BOARD MEETING

Call to Order at 1:15 pm by President, Mary Jane Cambria

Roll Call of the Governing Board by Secretary, Jean Tietgen. A quorum was established.

Rules of the Day were presented by Parliamentarian, Mike Riley

Credentials Chair, Karlene Westfall reported that 111 members were signed in and that there were 46 governing board members present.

President, Mary Jane Cambria presented the 2004 Committee Chairs for approval. Motion to accept. Motion passed.

President-Elect, Carol Luckenbach reported that California has 1997 members and 31 chapters.

2003 Treasurer, Jean Tietgen presented the 2003 Financials for approval. Approved and filed.

2004 Treasurer, Bobbie Nelson presented the 2004 Budget. A motion to approve was made and seconded. Motion passed.

Committee Reports:

Educational Awards –Vice Chair,Tamara Dawn announced names of 2003 recipients.

Bylaws – Vice Chair, Denise Aquila reported that the committee is reviewing and updating the Standing Rules for clarity, re-defining the officer criteria and voting procedures.

Education & Programs – Vice-Chair, Diane Schultz spoke about programs within the guidelines from National.

Membership – Chair, Beth Anderson reported that the goals are to increase membership by 15% and membership retention. Have a system to follow up on all leads including Expo leads.

Strategic Planning – Chair, Betty Taisch reported that the State Chapter’s plan is for 3 years modeling National. The goal is 3,000 members and 45 chapters in 3 years. Another goal is to establish more involvement with Local Associations, consistent structure and a Resource Manual for retreats.

Ways & Means – Chair, Cathy Scharetg announced that Chapter Spotlights will continue and the committee is entertaining more ideas to increase funds.

Finance & Budget – Chair, Denise Smith reported that they will work within the budget.

Audit – Chair, Cynthia Chaisson had no action items.

Credentials – Chair, Karlene Westfall – No report

Expo Task Force – Chair, Barbara Safran reported that Expo Raffle Tickets will be ready in February and will sell for $3 each.

Meeting Planning – Chair, Jamie Saltman – No report

Installation Planning – Chair, Edie Newmeyer – No report

Sponsorship – Vice Chair, Barbara Riddle reported that a plan to broaden the scope of companies to include “related services.”

Website – Chair, Carol Meyers reported that Chapters need to be on site with their information. Members of the committee will mentor local chapters.

Hospitality – Chair, Hong Buccat reported that the committee has used $1,000 of the budgeted allowance on January meeting.

Member of the Year – No report

Governing Board meeting was adjourned at 2:20 pm.

Announcements:

Betty Taisch – 2003 Regional V.P. announced the Regional Meeting this year will be in Portland, Oregon on June 24-26, 2004.

President, Mary Jane Cambria announced that there would be a President’s Reception at 5:30 pm tonight.

Meeting was adjourned by President, Mary Jane Cambria at 4:45 pm.
